Paypal payment, time to clear?

Does this sound fishy to you? I sent a payment to an auction house and had to pay for priority shipping. After a week I asked where the coin was and they said it would ship next day since it just cleared paypal. So I paid on a Sunday and they will ship the following Weds (yes this includes a holiday and weekend) but that seems long to me. Payment was sent via paypal and I paid with a credit card. I would understand if they said that is how long it takes to ship and process but they said in an email they ship the day after payment. Is there a reason a payment would take this long to clear? Just curious......

I've had people pay me for eBay items using a PayPal "e-check" (whatever that is?) a few times and PayPal just told me not to ship the item until their "e-check" cleared, which usually took about an extra 4-5 days to clear.

It will say in your paypal account for the transaction if your payment was a e-check or not.

I am not sure what triggers paypal to use a e-check and mark the payment pending but I have had it happen before.

an echeck occurs when you do not have a credit card on record with paypal.

Yes, they were short-handed and used that excuse as a stalling tactic.

They may be used to holding checks for a week as a conservative measure and not realize there is no need to do this with paypal. If you use a credit card the only option is an instant payment which clears immediately. --Jerry

Maybe when they use a e-check they don't have a CC as a backup?
